It is a thin piece of leather prepared for writing on parchment. In the 2nd century BC, during the time of King Eumenes II of Pergamon, due to the scarcity of papyrus, he made thin, dried sheets from goat and calfskin, which were used like paper. The leather to be used as parchment would be stretched and dried after being cleaned of hair, excess flesh, and fat. After the drying process, it would be sanded smooth and made ready for use. The name parchment comes from Pergamos (Pergamon) and is also known as Pergamon Paper. It has spread to all languages from here. Parchment spread from Pergamon to the whole world starting from the 2nd century BC.

Parchment is entirely an Anatolian invention. We, too, send a greeting to centuries past by creating notebooks with covers made from real goatskin. After 50 units, we can apply any desired design to the cover, creating 'custom' notebooks for you. You can examine the notebooks we produced for [Link text="Çemberlitaş Hamamı" url="/product/tasarim-atolyesi/cemberlitas-hamami-marti"]Çemberlitas Bath[/Link] and the bookmarks we produced for Martı Hotels in our [Link text="Tasarım Atölyesi" url="/collection/tasarim-atolyesi"]Design Workshop[/Link] section.
