Why is the Akide Coffee Set the right gift choice for corporate companies?
As we explained in detail in Turkish and English in our book 'Turkish Coffee', it was the Turks who introduced coffee to the world. Likewise, Akide Candy, with its historical story and traditional taste, is a gift from the Turks to world cuisine. We wanted to create a set entirely 'unique to us' from these two flavors. We also added a lollipop to the set, making it well-'sweetened'.
The Akide Coffee Set comes in a handmade cardboard gift box. The products are presented with full protection in a sponge, without touching each other. A company logo can be applied to the box lid with gold leaf. This alternative provides a good opportunity for many companies to promote their corporate identity. For companies seeking corporate gifts, event gifts, or corporate promotions, the Akide Coffee Set is a very 'sweet' option.
It would be appropriate to provide a brief explanation about the story of Akide Candy: The story of Akide candy originates from the Topkapi Palace. The word "akit", meaning loyalty or contract, is a form of communication between the sultan and the janissaries in the Janissary tradition. During the Ottoman era, on the day of the ulufeci divan, janissaries were paid their salaries and given food. A ceremony was held to show that the Kapıkulu soldiers were satisfied with their salaries and food. In the Akide ceremony, members of the Divan-ı Humayun would first taste the soldiers' food. Afterwards, they would be offered candy. This offering demonstrated the soldiers' loyalty to the sultan and their contentment. The offered candy would reassure everyone, symbolizing that the soldiers would not revolt against the sultan. The "akit" (agreement) would be secured.
According to a narrative; janissaries would offer candy to the newly enthroned sultan. The offered bowl of candy would first be weighed. If the candy offered was 400g, it would indicate that the janissaries were pleased with the sultan's ascension. If it was less than 400g, it would signal their dissatisfaction. If the sultan tasted the offered candy himself, he would convey the message, 'I trust you.' If the sultan gave the candy to the tasters without tasting it himself, he would convey the message, 'I do not trust you either, and I am not pleased.' This process was called 'akitleşme' (making an agreement), and the candy was called 'Akide Şekeri' (Akide Candy).
